Fire Mage PvP 4.3 Talents and Glyphs

Intro

The mage class OWNS in pvp. We can kite like champs, burst, control, basically do whatever we want. When you que up for a random bg there's a chance you will see one mage of each spec. We are going to focus on fire because that's what i play. Unlike PVE fire, where there are no points to play with. Pvp fire has a few different things you can do with the talent tree. This one works best for my gameplay.

(2/31/8)

The first thing you may notice is that I do not run with free scorch. The reasoning behind this is that I never have mana problems. Unless you are being crushed by a melee there is really no reason to not have GLYPHED mage armor up. Also I recommend taking the pyromaniac talent for BGs. It's pretty easy to keep dots running on 3 people considering they are usually cluttered up.

Looking at the frost tree you should take
3- piercing ice
2- shatter
1- ice floes
2- improved cone of cold

And in the arcane...
2- improved counterspell

This is known as the Fire Shatter Spec. With this build you can force instant pyro's whenever you want. How so you may ask? Quite easilly I do SAY good sir.

step 1- Frost nova your target
step 2- Cast scorch
step 3- Fireblast

These 3 simple steps will give you 2 fire crits which will proc your improved hot streak.

Pay attention to this next step...its very important. Before you use your instant pyro your going to want to freeze your target in place AGAIN with cone of cold. This should give you a nice crit with pyroblast. Which will also put a sweet, juicy burning sensation known as ignite on your target. Then you will use combustion. That is the basic idea on how we kill people in pvp. I will put up more class specific strategies at a later time.

Glyphs

Prime:
Living Bomb
Mage Armor
Pyroblast

Major:
Polymorph
Frost Armor
Evocation

Minor:
Player choice

That is all for talents and glyphs. Next week I will go over stat priorities and have a class strategy guide ready!

How did your journey begin adventurer?

I find myself curious on how my fellow guildies and all players alike chose their race/class combination. The road in warcraft can be a rough one with pot holes and sometimes it can even be unpaved (terrible analogy). The most important thing to remember is that we play this amazing game for fun. At time's it can be frustrating whether you are having trouble during a progression kill, or struggling against a certain class in pvp *coughroguescough*. The frustration is usually followed by GLORY! If you don't like the game then don't play...simple enough, go QQ on rift or star wars.

I started playing a couple weeks before BC came out. My first character was a Night Elf druid whom sadly got deleted at lvl 13 due to an unfortunate drowning accident ( I don't like to talk about it). Shortly after deletion my friends and I decided to roll gnomes, thinking it would be amusing to go on a gnomish adventure. We were rolling about 5 gnomes deep yo! Being led by our high level night elf hunter friend. He led us through various areas, protecting us like a lioness protects her cubs in the wild. And then...swamp of sorrows happened.

I still have nightmares to this day of crocs running up out of the water and swallowing my gnome whole!

I still have this character. Althought no longer a gnome, I grew up and rolled horde. (FOR THE HORDE) And yes my main is a mage..obviously.

How did you choose your main? What's the history behind he or she?

Comment and share my friends.

Fire Friday part 1

Hello my fellow mages and those who wish they rolled a mage!

I would like to thank you for checking out the Everything Mage blog. The whole goal of the site is to share my knowledge of the mage class in world of warcraft.

The first thing I'd like to go over is Fire PVE. Let's start with the spec, (3/35/3)

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/maelstrom/Tanic/talent/primary

This is the cookie cutter spec for pve and there are really no points to play with. As for glyphs I guess you could drop pyroblast for living bomb, but a 3 percent damage increase to living bomb doesn't justify taking it over 5 percent extra crit on pyro. The more you crit the better ignites you get and the more ignites you get the bigger combustions you can get! See where I'm going with this?

Now lets do a mock boss pull.....

Tank: "Pulling in 3,2"
YOU AS A MAGE: (start casting pyroblast)
Tank: "1"

Always, always, always start off an encounter with a pyroblast. In patch 4.3 the pyroblast dot got a nice buff and it applies the Critical Mass debuff. Which increases your crit chance by 5 percent! CRIT IS KING! MAGE_TASTIC.

Act 2...The Rotation
After you pyroblast, throw up living bomb. The next step is to cast flame orb and mirror images. You will use these 2 spells on cooldown. They provide us with intellect procs and do rougly 4k dps by themselves. If you are not starting out every boss fight like that then you are losing out on dps in the long run.

Don't forget DPS is what we do! We are dress wearing, fireball flinging, face melting machines of destruction.

Anyways....after you do your amazing opener, the rotation is fairly simple. You re-apply living bomb after it explodes (never before). You use combustion only when you have all of your dots up. These include Living Bomb, Pyroblast, and Ignite. Let me warn you, it can be frustrating. If I had a nickle for everytime I waited to use combustion because I couldn't get ignite up on my target I'd be one rich betch.

You will cast fireball a lot, so get used to the animation. Never hard cast pyroblast outside of the opener and always use your instant pyro ASAP. The nice thing about playing a fire mage is that we never have to stop casting. Whenever you are moving cast scorch, when standing still cast fireball. It's a nice little system we have going. (it owns in pvp too, but we will talk about that another time).

Thank you for checking out the first Fire Friday post EVER!
